Spicy Korean Chicken Stew – Dakdoritang
The Spicy and Savory Comfort Dish
What is Dakdoritang? Dakdoritang (also known as Dakbokkeumtang) is a traditional Korean dish where chicken is braised with potatoes, carrots, and onions in a spicy sauce made with gochujang (Korean red chili paste) and gochugaru (Korean chili powder). The broth is thick and flavorful, making it perfect for mixing with rice or even adding noodles. There has been some debate over the term “Dakdoritang”, as some argue that “dori” may have Japanese origins. As a result, the official term “Dakbokkeumtang” is often used, but many people still prefer the name “Dakdoritang.” Why is Dakdoritang So Popular? 🔥 Addictive Spicy Flavor The combination of gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, and garlic creates a deep, spicy, and savory flavor that coats the tender chicken and vegetables. 🥔 Soft and Flavorful Vegetables The slow-cooked potatoes and carrots absorb all the rich flavors of the sauce, becoming incredibly soft and satisfying. 🍚 Perfect with Rice The thick, spicy broth pairs wonderfully with steamed rice, making it a comforting meal. Many people also enjoy adding ramen noodles to the dish for an extra treat. Dakdoritang is a long-loved Korean comfort food, known for its rich, spicy flavors and tender chicken. Whether you make it at home or enjoy it with family, this dish is sure to warm your heart and satisfy your taste buds! 😊
